PSAC will miss Lavern Burton

The Arts Council received a phone call from Lavern Burton last week. She is very busy renovating a home in the Panhandle of Texas house and she has also been very busy with her art.

She is finishing the last of seven murals that she has painted; she has eight commissioned residential paintings to do and she has been commissioned to do 15 murals by the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum for a circa 1800s Old West Town.

The murals will consist of street scenes down the middle of the town with connecting streets off the main street. As a result she and her husband, Justin, will not be returning to Pagosa Springs and she is reluctantly resigning from the PSAC board.

Lavern said they will dearly miss Pagosa and all of their friends, but it’s a decision that had to be made.

As disheartening as this may for PSAC we need to fill her position as a dynamic, enthusiastic, forthcoming board member who was always willing to “give it all” to us, the Arts Council, and the arts in general for our community.

Please call the Arts Council, 264-5020, if you would like to take an active role in helping promote the arts in Pagosa Springs.
