A variety of yoga styles, free at the community center

One of our wonderful community center programs residents can enjoy for free is yoga.

The word “yoga” comes from the ancient Indian language Sanskrit and it means union. It can be thought of as a yoke of sorts, binding together the body, mind and spirit. Ultimately, yoga is the union of the individual’s consciousness with the infinite consciousness. Although it can be practiced religiously each day, yoga is not a religion. A more accurate description of yoga would be to say that it is ancient science.

At the Ross Aragon Community Center, we teach from the traditional styles of yoga: Ashtanga, Integral, lyengar, Kripalu, Kundalini and Sivananda. Classes meet Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11 a.m., and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
