Helen Ruth Lynn passed away at her home in Pagosa Springs, Colo., on the night of Feb. 18, 2011, which was Helen and late husband Billy Lynn’s 57th wedding anniversary. They had been apart for seven-and-a-half years and are finally reunited together forever. Helen suffered from cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
Helen was born on March 18, 1924, in Victor, Okla., to parents John and Maude Potts. She lived in Oklahoma until shortly after graduation. She then moved to California and worked in an aircraft plant in the 1940s during World War II, helping to assemble aircraft for the war. This is where Helen met the love of her life, Billy Lynn, who was stationed in Merced, and who swept her off her feet. They married in Santa Fe, N.M., on Feb. 18, 1954. The couple moved to Pagosa Springs in the ’50s, where they raised their family and owned and operated Lynn’s Dairy Cream and Total Sports.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Patricia Miller and Kami Lynn; grandchildren Christopher Miller, Nicholas Miller and wife Abigail Miller, Savannah and Raelynn; great-grandchildren Mya Miller, Olivia Miller and new great-granddaughter who will make her debut in May, Lillian Faith Miller, as well as her longtime best friend, Jacko.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maude Potts, brothers and sisters J.B., Bud, Clint, JohnEd, Eurena and Kathryn, infant twin brothers and 5-year-old sister.
Helen’s memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church.
