Center offers full schedule of free programs

While I have been filling in at the Ross Aragon Community Center these past couple of weeks, it has been good to see all of the familiar faces around.   

There are so many new and exciting things going on.  I hope you are all taking advantage of all of the free programs the community center has to offer.  After you enjoy some yoga or belly dancing, get outside and enjoy these last days of snow, as we are anxiously waiting for spring to arrive. 

Free programs

 Israeli Folk Dance. Dance the night away on Wednesdays from 7-9:30 p.m. in the South Conference room.  Contact the center with questions, 264-4152.

Boxing class. Coach Monte Lane has classes on Wednesdays, 3:45-5 p.m., and Fridays, 1:45-5 p.m. Times are subject to change. Contact Monte at (936) 524-9557 or the community center at 264-4152.

 Small Fries Play Group. This play group is designed for kids 18 months to 3 years and meets every Wednesday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the center. Other ages are welcome as well. Bring bikes, scooters and tricycles to ride. Plan on supervising your children while at the play group. Call the center for more information, 264-4152.

 Scrapbook Club. The group meets the second Saturday of the month. Kathy Ruth is your contact person; call her at 264-2853.

Mah Jongg. Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. Call the center with any questions.

 Pickleball. Pickleball is a game for all ages. Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9-11 a.m. Contact Sharon Athey, 731-1719, (480) 529-3748 or  and Fran Brown, 884-3184, if you would like to play.

 Tai Chi. No experience is necessary. Join instructors Pam Kircher and Anna O’Reilly. Classes are Fridays from 11 a.m.-noon. Please wear flat-soled shoes and bring water. Class is open to everyone.

 Dance for Health Class. Wednesdays, 10-11:30 a.m. The use of yogic awareness, ballet/jazz/modern dance technique adds fun to create a full body workout. Class is geared to the older adult, but we are open to everyone. Wear loose, comfortable clothing; bring a mat and large towel or throw, and let your inner dancer free!

Duplicate Bridge. Every Friday 12-4 p.m. and Tuesday 5:30-10 p.m. Call Stan at 731-2217 or e-mail Stan at .

Pagosa Bridge. Mondays 12:30-4 p.m. For more information, contact the Community Center, 264-4152

Hoopsters. Tuesday and Thursdays, 8-9 a.m. Warren and the guys are waiting for you to come out and play. The Hoopsters are a great group of guys getting out there twice a week for a good game of b-ball.

Yoga. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 10-11 a.m. Come, rejuvenate with us; it will be the best hour of your life. Please bring a mat or towel.

Indoor Soccer. Pickup-style indoor soccer for all ages on Saturday, Feb. 26, and March 26, 10 a.m.-noon. Call Matt for details, 903-8663.

 Tuesday, March 1 — Hoopsters, 8-9 a.m.;  yoga, 10-11 a.m.;  Mah Jongg Club, 1-3 p.m.; Duplicate Bridge, 5:30-10 p.m.; Herbal Healing, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; TOPS basketball, 5-9 p.m.
