PSHS to present ‘Les Miserables’

Save the date, mark your calendar and don’t miss the Pagosa Springs High School Music and Theater Department’s spring musical, “Les Miserables,” opening and performing during the first week of May 2011.

Performed entirely by students, with orchestrations by John Cameron, the musical had the third longest run on Broadway, playing for 16 years, and is still playing in London after 26 years.

“Les Miserables” is based on Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel and is set in early 19th century France. Its plot and story lines are universal and timely: the fight for freedom, search for love and acceptance, the struggles of daily life and the passion of friendship and courage.

“Les Mis” was made into a successful feature film in the 1980s, a dramatic version, starring Liam Neeson.

Our outstanding cast has been working for several weeks already in preparation for a May opening. We have been waiting for the right time and talent to mount this spectacular production, and now is the time! A live orchestra of over 20 musicians comprising students and community members will be playing in the pit.

There will be Four performances: May 3, 5, 6 and 7, at the high school.
