A fitness trail that would be available for the whole community will be the topic of conversation at the upcoming meeting at the Pagosa Springs Medical Center at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21.
The meeting, which will be held in the Pagosa Room and presented by Brad Cochennet, CEO, will provide information about the vision that the Upper San Juan Health Service District has for creating a fitness trail with various exercise stations on the surrounding property of the medical center.
The proposed fitness trail, which will encompass approximately a half-mile area, will have a trail for walking and running, as well as fitness stations placed along the trail. This trail would not only help as rehabilitation therapy for patients of the hospital and of the various physical therapists in town, but it would also be available for public access, free of charge.
The Upper San Juan Health Service District has embraced the concept of wellness, incorporating a Wellness Center within Pagosa Springs Medical Center, and the fitness trail would build on the concept of creating a healthier community. But in order to accomplish such a goal, public donations and grant money would be a necessary part of implementing the trail.
The public is welcome to attend the meeting to listen to detailed information about the project and also to provide valuable input. Also, any comments can be made concerning the project for up to 30 days after the meeting is held. If you are unable to attend the meeting, visit the website at www.pagosamountainhospital.org, and feel free to post a comment on the blog.
