Good evening, Pagosa Springs! Welcome to the Pagosa Mountain Morning Rotary’s 2011 presentation of the Follies!
What a fabulous evening is in store for you at the Follies. This year, we again present local talent performing in a wide variety of skits — all of which will entertain you and make you smile, giggle, belly laugh and, well, you’ll just have to come.
We all know that Pagosa Springs is chocked full of incredibly talented folks. We see them singing and dancing, playing instruments and acting in plays. Guess what? You are going to see more of that at the Follies with spontaneity, knee slapping humor, unexpected surprises, and original songs and skits that showcase Pagosa. So, what are the Follies, really? Well, the dictionary includes this under the definition: “The state of being foolish, levity— scandalous.”
We will entertain you in some foolish ways, providing levity, music, laughter, lots of unique talent, hilarious social commentary, great music, super acting and, above all, lots of laughter (oh, I already said that, didn’t I?). Grab a ticket and come to find out about the “scandalous” part!
This is the third year that Pagosa Mountain Morning Rotary has presented this unique form of entertainment. With a cast of about 30 people, this year’s promises to be one of the best shows ever. Proceeds from the show go to fund the many community and international projects that Morning Rotary supports. Production and direction of the performances is by Rotary members, but those appearing in the Follies come from all segments of Pagosa. So, if you didn’t get your act ready for this year’s production, be sure to keep it in mind for next year. It’s a volunteer effort, so all the profits go directly to help meet needs in Pagosa and around the world. These include the Pagosa Outreach Coalition, the Pagosa Springs Youth Center, the playground at Town Park, support for international exchange students, the eradication of polio and providing safe water in third world countries.
We again have the Liberty Theatre for our venue and there will be two seatings, 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Come early and laugh up an appetite for a late dinner. Or, head out earlier to one of Pagosa’s fine restaurants and come to the Follies for your nightcap. There will be a selection of great wine and, of course, Pagosa’s award winning brewer will have his brews on tap at the theater that night.
The Follies will play at the Liberty Theatre Saturday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Admission is $15 per person. Tickets are available at the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, Moonlight Books, Pagosa Brewing Company and Higher Grounds. Or, call Sam Conti at 731-9019. The show is most appropriate for those over 18.
