The American Cancer Society’s Annual Relay for Life of Archuleta County is holding its kickoff event on Monday, Feb. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pagosa Lakes Vista Clubhouse at 230 Port Avenue.
It’s a Valentine Party, open to anyone who is planning on putting together a team — and their team members — or who wants to learn more about Relay for Life. Come dressed in your best Valentines Day attire! There will be a prize for the most appropriate costume, a prize for the most creative hand made Valentines Day card, refreshments and entertainment.
Registration will be taken for teams that evening and will be at the reduced rate of $75, a savings of $25 off the official sign up rate of $100. Bring as many members of your team as possible, as the team with the most members in attendance will receive a $75 discount. Get your teams together. Tiffany Wilkins, Team Development Chair, is available to assist and answer any questions you may have. She can be contacted at 731-0816.
Barbara Briles and Mari Anne Hall are co-chairing the event this year and calling for volunteers to step up to fill various committee and volunteer positions. For further information, you may call Barbara at 264-0216 or Mari Anne Hall at 731-3381.
This is Briles’ second year to chair this event. She relays for her sister who lost her fight with breast cancer. She reminds us that everyone has someone who has been affected by this devastating disease ... a mother or father, a sister or brother, a close friend or relative. Some have survived. Some have not. By joining the crusade to fight cancer, you are honoring them. The motto of the American Cancer Society is Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back! and says it all. Please join us to kickoff this year’s campaign — Seasons of Hope.
