Snowmobilers from all over the state will descend upon Pagosa Springs this weekend, Jan. 28-30, in the form of the Colorado Snowmobile Association’s annual convention, hosted by the Wolf Creek Trailblazers.
This is the one time of the year that CSA members have the opportunity to snowmobile and fellowship together during the winter time. The other three quarterly board of directors meetings are held during the spring, summer, and fall — then it’s all business.
The convention allows for three days of fun, food, games, prizes, awards, a few surprises, the board of directors meeting with elections and, of course, riding. All indoor events will be held at The Pagosa Lodge.
There will be rides on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with more riders like hitting the trails for the Saturday rides. These riders will be spread out over our area’s entire trails system, with some rides possible spilling over into the Bayfield Ranger District and the Rio Grande Ranger District, depending on the number of riders. This is being done so that no one area will be overwhelmed with riders.
So, when you see an influx of snowmobilers throughout town and Pagosa Country, that’s what it’s all about.
The last CSA Convention hosted by the Wolf Creek Trailblazers snowmobile club was during the early 1980s and my, how the snowmobiles have changed since then.
