Kindergarten, here we come

Seeds of Learning’s new pre-k classroom is up and running. Every day, 12 very eager students arrive ready to learn. Miss Ruby, Miss Mary Jo and Miss Mallorie make sure each and every day is a fun and exciting learning adventure.

Science, art, math, learning to read letter and number recognition are just a few of things the Butterflies do every day.

A new and exciting addition to the classroom is CiCi Fang. She is an exchange student from China and also a high school tutor at Seeds this semester. CiCi has great ideas to add to the curriculum for the month of February. She is going to teach them about Chinese New Year celebrations, how to pronounce certain words in Chinese, customs they follow in China and maybe even pictures of a panda bear.

The Butterflies are very excited to have CiCi; they have already made a Chinese flag. Lot of fun things are planned for the new pre-k classroom. Stop by for a visit.

Ladies, do you have your little black dress yet?

On Saturday, March 5, Seeds of Learning is once again pulling out all the stops with “A Little Black Dress Affair – The Animal Within.” This fabulous evening will take place at the Ross Aragon Community Center from 5-8 p.m. and will include a fashion show by Goodman’s Department Store and Little Weedz, as well as a silent auction, big prize drawing and gifts.

Alley House Grille is pulling out all the stops for this event as well. Alley House Grille is preparing sumptuous appetizers, including herb roasted tenderloin and portobello brochettes, Thai chicken satay with peanut sauce, marinated tuna with wasabi goat cheese, mesquite roasted duck with truffled humbolt fog and mascarpone — yum. Are you hungry yet?

Save room for the elegant desserts Alley House Grille is preparing: lemon cheesecake squares, chocolate brownies with ganache, carrot cake squares and petit fours. All of this will be complemented with wine from Mountain Spirits under the label “Little Black Dress.”

Ladies attending will surely be dazzled by the ambiance for the evening. Animal prints and palm trees will create a safari-like atmosphere and inspire attendees to bring out the “Animal Within.” So, get your little black dress and your animal print accessories, gather your girlfriends and step out to enjoy this glamorous evening just for “big” girls.

Tickets, $40, are available at Seeds of Learning and Switchback Mountain Gear.

Gentlemen, while the ladies dress up, you are invited to a “man cave party” at Pagosa Brewing Company and Grill. No little black dresses allowed and no tickets needed!
