The Archuleta County Planning Commission will be taking public comment on the discussion of the Future Land Use Map (FLUM) within the county’s community plan. The planning commission is inviting the public to attend these meetings to give input on proposed changes which may result from discussion and deliberation.
The FLUM was adopted in 2001, and amended in 2008, to include an Urban Service Area where more intense land development may be considered to take place because urban levels of services are available in those areas. The FLUM is a guiding document painting an overall picture of where low, medium and high density residential as well as commercial development should be directed. It is not a zoning map, however, it does direct any zoning and zoning changes within the county.
The meetings will be held on Thursdays, Jan. 20 and Feb. 3, at the Archuleta County Extension Center at 344 U.S. 84, starting at 6 p.m.
