United Way Ski Day — enjoy the snow, help the community

United Way Wolf Creek Ski Day is a fun way to get out of the house and enjoy the incredible snow on top of the Continental Divide.

United Way Ski Day 2011 is on Wednesday, Jan. 19, so mark your calendar and plan to attend. Lift tickets will be $42 for adults with $11 going back to United Way, and senior and child tickets are $24 with $6 going back to United Way.

Plan now to meet up with family and friends and enjoy a full day of skiing at wonderful Wolf Creek Ski Area; enjoy the discounted lift ticket prices and make an effortless donation to serve the needs of those in your community through the United Way.

United Way is a devoted advocate for the community in which you live. As the needs of the human service organizations who specifically serve those living in Archuleta County have continued to increase, United Way volunteers have sought ways to make informed funding decisions that recognize need and how to best utilize the available resources in our community.

This year, 15 local agencies will benefit from the campaign and include: American Red Cross, Archuleta Education Center, Archuleta County Victim Assistance Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado, Colorado Housing Inc., Girl Scouts of Colorado, Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County, Pagosa Outreach Connection, Pagosa Pregnancy Center, San Juan Basin Area Agency of Aging, Southwest Smile Makers Dental Program, Seeds of Learning, Axis Health System (formerly Southwest Colorado Mental Health Center), Southwest Conservation Corps and Volunteers of America.

The funds and additional support from United Way, through fund-raising efforts and dedicated volunteers, will help enable these 15 organizations to have a far greater impact on our community. You, too, can help your community, and have fun doing it, by saving Jan. 19 on your calendar and heading to Wolf Creek Ski Area for one of the most worthwhile ski days all season — United Way Ski Day.
