Sometimes the hardest part of treatment is getting there. The American Cancer Society is looking for people interested in serving as volunteer drivers in Durango and Pagosa Springs for cancer patients being treated at the Durango Cancer Center, located in Mercy Medical Plaza.
Cancer Resources Center volunteer drivers will be trained and certified. For more information about being a patient driver, contact Ginna Harbison at the American Cancer Society at (970) 247-0278, Option 3.
The American Cancer Society saves lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and encourage communities worldwide to join the fight. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
