Calling young actors and playwrights

The Thingamajig Theatre Company held a Winter Playshop on Jan. 7 and 8, at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts, during which several students were able to sample all of the fun that being involved with theater can offer.

Now, the Thingamajig Theatre Company is holding Playshops at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts for children ages 7-12 who are interested in putting on a play.

The Spring Playshop is an exciting and fun series of classes in which children will write, rehearse and perform an original play in a professional theater setting. The children will learn basic acting skills as well as practice a skill that many find terrifying but essential later on in life — public speaking.

The class is perfect for students who are old hats at acting, those who have always wanted to try acting, those who love to create or students who simply love to have a fun time.

The classes will be held on Fridays at 1:45-3:30 starting Feb. 25, and going until April 29, with performances on May 6 and 7.

Space in the Playshop is limited to 20 students and registration will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The cost is $100 for the ten week class. To register, call Laura Moore at (970) 507-0408 or e-mail her at laura@pagosacenter.org. Information can be found at pagosacenter.org.
