A Contra Dance will be held Jan. 8 in Durango.

January 8 is the second Saturday of the month —a change from the usual schedule.

The dance will be held at Park Elementary School, 510 E.  6th Ave.

Beginner dance instruction is at 7 p.m.

The Contra Dance with new local band including Sue Colter, and caller Wendy Graham from Durango takes place 7:30-10:15.

  All dances are taught and called.  No partner is necessary, and dancers of all ages and abilities are welcome.  Admission is $10.  First-timers get a pass to come back for free.

You can also purchase a 2011 season pass — get into all nine dances for just $75 (save $15).

 These smoke-and alcohol-free dances are a project of the Durango Arts Center.
