For the past couple of month, people in Pagosa have been busy packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes with gifts and necessities for children who rarely, if ever, have received a gift.
Along with the shoeboxes, the children receive a storybook in their own language explaining God’s love for them.
Lots of love and joy went into packing boxes in homes, churches, civic groups and at the recent Veggie Tales Shoebox Packing Party. The 791 boxes collected at the Pagosa Springs Relay Center are now at the Denver Processing Center, meeting up with boxes from Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
Last year, 626,448 boxes were shipped out from Denver to needy children, and 8.2 million boxes worldwide were delivered in 130 countries. Most of the boxes from Denver will head south to Mexico, Central and South America. Many thanks go out to the churches, civic groups, and individuals who gave of their hearts, time, and money filling the boxes and volunteering at the event and Collection Week.
