Laura Jean Gallegos passed away on Nov. 10, 2010, in Farmington, N.M. She was a lifelong resident of Pagosa Springs and will be missed by many family and friends.
Lori was born in Queens, N.Y., on Oct. 26, 1960, to Marion “Smokey” Gallegos and Alice McKeough. Lori loved the area and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceeded in death by her father Marion “Smokey” Gallegos, mother Alice McKeough, stepfather Victor Montano aka “Moose,” sisters Cathy St. Laurent and Tammy Gallegos. Survivors include her husband Alfred Romero of Pagosa Springs; sons Leonard (Brandy) Surber of Panama City, Fla., Allen Surber of Salida, Colo., and Mario Surber of Salida; daughter Danielle (Terry) Camp of Elkhart, Texas; sisters Debbie (Greg) Gonzales of Las Vegas, Nev. and Judy (John) Hamer of Telico Plains City of Tennessee.; brothers Kenny Gallegos of Pagosa Springs, and Randy Gallegos of Salt Lake City, Utah. She had three grandchildren: Ashten, Ethan and Devon. Lori was also an aunt to Monice, Johnny Dell, Desire, Daniel, Christina, David, Jennifer, Dasha, Amien and Erik II.
A celebration of her life was held at the First Assembly of God on Wednesday Nov. 17. Graveside services followed.
