“A Classic Christmas,” a heartwarming concert featuring splendid performances of traditional holiday songs and elegant classical music, takes place Dec. 17, at the Ross Aragon Community Center.
A pre-concert social with live music begins at 6 p.m. The concert begins at 7: Free coffee and a beer and wine cash bar will be available throughout the evening. Please bring desserts and snacks to share if you wish.
“A Classic Christmas” has been a memorable tradition in Pagosa for the past several years. Bringing together families and friends to share festivity and goodwill, the concert is a joyful holiday musical celebration, with a bevy of superbly talented musicians and singers.
Bob Nordmann — one of the many fine performers in this year’s remarkable show — evokes the holiday spirit through his gorgeous classical saxophone music. As a young boy growing up in Chicago, Nordmann fell in love with classical music. After high school, he set aside his horn and went to college. Later, he became an officer in the Navy, raised a family and had a long career with Frito-Lay. In 2001, Nordmann moved to Pagosa with his wife, Janet.
Forty years after having set aside his saxophone, Nordmann underwent a musical renaissance, reviving his enthusiasm for the instrument he had been so passionate about in his younger years. Our community’s cultural arts scene has benefited, in many ways, by this talented artist’s stunning musical reawakening.
Also performing for “A Classic Christmas” will be Larry Elginer, Matthew and Tiffany Brunson, John Graves, Johnny K, Natalie Oman and many other highly talented performers who will be announced in forthcoming articles.
December embers, carols, icicles, stuffed stockings, tinsel, mistletoe, Santa, eggnog, visiting family and friends … Christmas is a celebration that connects people across the globe. Please join us for “A Classic Christmas” Dec. 17.
Advance tickets, for $10, will go on sale in a few weeks. Tickets at the door are $12. Young people, 18 and under, are admitted free. The Ross Aragon Community Center is located at 451 Hot Springs Blvd. For further information, call 264-4152.
