The San Juan Outdoor Club has set Saturday, Nov. 13, for its annual Ski and Sports Swap at the Ross Aragon Community Center, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This is the club’s largest fund-raising activity of the year and all the net proceeds go to the scholarship fund. This year, the club was able to furnish three graduating seniors with $5,000 in funds to help them continue their higher education.
In support of the K-4 grades, a donation was made to the Four Mile Ranch Environmental Education Program, which allowed almost 550 children to get outdoors to learn science and nature through active games and student-driven exploration and discovery.
The club sells ski and sport clothing and equipment from individuals and a good selection of merchants from throughout the Four Corners. Starting planning now for what gear you have to sell that you or the kids might have outgrown and starting thinking about that new piece of equipment that will make your winter season even more fun.
To sell equipment or clothing, bring it to the community center from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, or between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. on Saturday before the Ski Swap.
The club charges a 17-percent consignment fee on merchandise sold to cover the cost of hall rental and cleanup. All labor to organize and operate the swap is provided by club volunteers. In addition, there will again be a bake sale with wonderful homemade treats and several varieties of chili to nourish you while you enjoy the bargain hunting.
Call Ron at 264-6275 or Barry at 731-0733 with any questions regarding the Ski Swap.
