Eight members of the Pagosa Springs Women’s Golf Association traveled to the San Juan Country Club in Farmington for its last team match play of the year, Sept. 20.
The ladies played the team from Dalton Ranch Golf Club, and Pagosans finished sixth and seventh place gross and net, respectively, for the 2010 season. Final point totals for the eight teams in the Southwest League were unavailable at press time; however, team caption Cherry O’Donnell said, “the first and second place teams, Pinon Hills Golf Club and Hillcrest Golf Club, far outdistanced the rest of the field, and the point spread between third place and sixth place was very, very close.” She added, “that all the Pagosa ladies played very hard during all the matches, and they truly enjoyed the shared camaraderie they experienced throughout the season.” Cherry thanks all the very dedicated and determined Pagosa team members and appreciates their continued commitment to the team.
Participating for Pagosa were Barbara Sanborn, Cherry O’Donnell, Audrey Johnson, Lynda Gillespie, Barb Lewis, Josie Hummel, Doe Stringer and Sue Martin. Other association members who participated on the traveling team during the season were Kay Crumpton, Jan Kilgore, Carrie Weisz, Kay McKee, Bev Hudson, Nancy Mackensen, Jo Ann Hazelwood and Leslie Fluharty.
It hardly seems possible that this is the end of our 2010 season — it’s truly warped by. I’m also relinquishing my duties as publicity director for the league. I’ve enjoyed meeting the challenges and excitement of the position, and chronicling the results and achievements during all of the league events and tournaments for eight of the last nine seasons. I’d like to thank past presidents Carrie Weisz, Jan Kilgore, Cherry O’Donnell and Audrey Johnson, and current president Leslie Fluharty, and their respective board members for their faithful support and encouragement.
