The Pagosa Springs Music Boosters organization, now in its 21st year of performance in Pagosa, announces the holiday production, “Forever Plaid, Plaid Tidings,” written by Stuart Ross with original vocal arrangements and musical direction by James Raitt, to be performed Nov. 18-21, at Pagosa Springs High School.
“Plaid” reprises the original “Forever Plaid” that played off-Broadway in New York, and that was produced in Pagosa in 2000, featuring our own Mark DeVoti and Bill Nobles.
This year’s holiday version introduces two professional newcomers, Tim Moore and Joseph Portal, to Pagosa alongside our veteran young performers, Robert Neel and Jarett Heber.
“Plaid Tidings” brings back a nostalgic revue of the close harmony “guy groups” popular in the 1950s and offers the best of “Forever Plaid “with a holiday twist! The ’50s-era musical brings back the lovable characters of Smudge, Jinx, Frankie and Sparky as they return from heaven, called back by Rosemary Clooney to put a little harmony (four part harmony, to be exact) into a discordant world. The Plaids return from the afterlife for one final chance at musical glory. Pagosa’s production features musical direction by Sue Anderson, with director duties, choreography and musical staging by Dale Morris. Interested in volunteering with the Plaid production?
