Fashion show to benefit Humane Society

The second annual Struttin’ at the Strater Fashion Show will be held at the Strater Theatre in downtown Durango 3:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25.

The event will start with wines or soda drinks, and socializing as attendees get to know the available waiters. Once the guests at reserved tables have chosen their waiters, gourmet hors d’oeuvres will be served. The waiters will “strut” their stuff to make sure everyone at the tables are well served as the waiters compete for tips to win the coveted prize of “Best Struttin’ Waiter.”

The latest in spring and summer trends from southwest Colorado’s favorite retail stores will be paraded on the Strater stage. Local models will help the audience plan wish lists for the season’s fashions.

Door prizes will be awarded and stores will offer fashion show attendees discounts

The 2009 event sold out and, this year, tickets are selling fast. All five runway tables have sold but other tables and seating is still available. Four non-runway reserved tables of nine are available at $400 per table.  Four tables of four can also be reserved for $200 and individual seating prices are $40 for banquet table seats or $35 for bar seating.

All proceeds from the event go to the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs and the Durango’s Dogster’s Spay and Neuter Fund.

This is not the first time that Dogster’s and Humane Society of Pagosa Springs (HSPS) have joined together for a project. In 2005 they launched “Operation Care for a Pet,” coordinating an effort to help dogs and cats misplaced by Hurricane Katrina. More than 70 dogs and 35 cats were flown to the Durango airport and were processed by four veterinarians who performed health assessments before the animals were vaccinated, microchipped, groomed and placed in pre-approved foster homes until they could be reunited with their owners or be placed in new permanent homes. Six other humane societies/animal groups and over 100 volunteers came to help with this mass undertaking.

HSPS is excited to be working again with Dogster’s Fund to benefit the dogs and cats of both Archuleta and La Plata counties. Be sure to reserve your table and tickets for this fun-packed afternoon of gourmet treats and fabulous fashions.
