Linda Lee Higham Kirk of Pagosa Springs passed away on Aug. 29, 2010, surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lee and Bonnye Higham. Linda married Richard Kirk in the Salt Lake City Latter-Day Saints Temple.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Linda is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard J. Kirk of Pagosa Springs and her children Richard Kirk II and his wife Kris of Denver, Colo.; D. Shane Kirk and his wife Siciley of Woodstock, Ga.; Lance Kirk and his wife Brooke of Denver.; Jennifer Martin and her husband Eric of Bluffdale, Utah; Jaime Kirk of Pagosa Springs; and Jeremy Kirk of Denver; grandchildren Ethan, Aiden, Andrew, Ashley, Lindsey, Courtney, Mazzi, Landon, Logan, Kylie, and Amber Kirk and Sydney, Lily, and Claire Martin. She is survived by her mother, Bonnye Nelsen, and sister Kim Smith of Albuquerque.
Linda was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a teacher and leader in the Relief Society, Primary, and Young Woman’s Organization in the various cities she and Richard lived. She loved living on Alpine Lakes Ranch for the past ten years and had many wonderful friends on the ranch and in Pagosa Springs. For over 20 years, Linda was a collectible teddy bear artist and owned the “Hand-in-Hand” Teddy Bear Co. Her hand-made bears were collected by people as far away as England and throughout the States. After moving to Pagosa Springs, knitting became her love and she enjoyed Tuesday knitting and visiting with friends at Shirley’s.
She loved her family, all her children and fourteen grandchildren. She loved her sisters-in-law and a very special aunt, Nancy Bell. Linda will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at the Pagosa Springs Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Majestic Drive, Piedra Estates. Interment will be on Sept. 6, in Manti, Utah.
