Pagosa Country motorists beware.
Hordes of bikers will soon swarm area streets and highways, as the Ignacio Bike Week and Four Corners Motorcycle Rally kicks off its 18th year.
Though no rally-related events are scheduled in Pagosa Springs over Labor Day weekend, throngs of bikers will doubtless pass through town on their way to lodging and camping facilities that will house them from this coming Monday through the following Sunday.
For that matter, the Pagosa Springs Area Chamber of Commerce suggests that many rally attendees will utilize lodging accommodations here in town. Certainly, several will visit area points of interest, restaurants and gas stations; while some should seek clothing, groceries and camping supplies through local retailers.
Meanwhile, numerous bike, parts and accessories, motorclothing and food venders will set up shop in and around Ignacio as early as Monday, with a multitude of official rally events scheduled there and in Durango from Wednesday through Sunday.
Between beer tents, assorted live concerts, biker baby contests, an 18-hole putting tournament, motorcycle stunt shows, biker burnouts and poker runs, ample activity will draw between 20,000 and 25,000 bikers from across the country over the weeklong affair. Various functions will afford good fun to young and old alike until Labor Day, when motorcycle enthusiasts again rumble across America’s highways, to all points beyond.
