The SUN’s Pagosa Springs Official Visitor Guide™ for 2009 has been awarded first place in the National Newspaper Association’s (NNA) 2010 Better Newspaper Contest and Better Newspaper Advertising Contest.
Taking first place in “Best Sales Promotion Section or Edition, Non-daily Division, circulation less than 5,000,” the “Official Visitor Guide” takes a select place among the best visitors guides in the nation, just a handful so honored.
Commenting on the award, Pagosa Springs SUN publisher Terri House said, “We’re pleased to win our first national award and be recognized by our industry peers for quality work in the production of this guide.”
In fact, one local business has not only recognized the quality of the current Official Visitor Guide ™ edition and the NNA’s award, but has made the decision to distribute the guide as its exclusive introduction to Pagosa Springs.
Parelli Natural Horsemanship, Inc. has not only agreed to carry copies of the guide to its international conferences throughout the year, for distribution at those events, but will also provide those guides to the over 5,000 attendees at the Parelli campus in Pagosa Springs.
“I think it’s tremendous,” said Parelli CEO Mark Weiler regarding the guide and the award, “and it elevates Pagosa Springs to world-class status with this national award.
“We were able to invest in the summer guide and realize a tremendous return on our investment,” Weiler added.
Although the Pagosa Springs Town Tourism Committee elected not to distribute the Official Visitor Guide™ in 2011, it will distribute the winter 2010 guide.
That guide is currently in production and businesses interested in placing an advertisement in that edition should call 264-2100.
The SUN will continue publishing the Pagosa Springs Official Visitor Guide™ (The SUN has published a guide for 30 years), distributed locally and mailed upon request.
