Softball players interested in organizing teams to play in local tournaments which traditionally draw teams from around the Four Corners region will have two chances to submit rosters during the coming weeks.
The first of a pair of upcoming tournaments is the annual American Legion Tournament, which will be held this weekend, July 11 and 12, at the high school baseball complex.
The tournament usually features a double-elimination format for men’s teams only; for more information on this tournament, contact Julian Archuleta at 264-4309.
The second tournament is annual the Softball Blowout, which is in its 27th year and features double-elimination brackets for men’s and women’s teams.
This tournament will be held at the high school sports complex Aug. 7 and 8; teams interested in submitting rosters for this tournament can contact Sue Jones at 264-2642 through the end of this month.
The Town of Pagosa Springs fireworks staff would like to thank everyone who made the Fourth of July holiday a true success.
Thanks go out to the school district, fire department, local law enforcement agencies and EMS staff, as well as the countless volunteers who donated their time this year.
Also, we give special thanks to all of the businesses and citizens who donated monetarily to the fireworks fund. Thanks again to each and every one for the generous commitment of time and resources.
The July session of youth began this week at the Wyndham Resorts tennis courts; all registered participants have been notified regarding practice times.
Participants must have nonmarking-soled athletic or tennis shoes. The recreation department has some racquets available, but participants are welcome to use their own equipment.

Players are reminded that all alcohol and tobacco products are prohibited on school grounds. Violators will be banned from the league and school grounds, and are also subject to prosecution by law enforcement.
