There’s a ‘Du’ for everyone on Saturday

Pagosa’s premier racing event has opportunities for the young, the seasoned, the beginners and the diehards.

The action Saturday at the fourth annual Pagosa Duathlon takes off at 8 a.m., starting with the Mini-Duathlon kids fun race, then launching into the Half and Full Duathlons for teens and adults, starting at 8:30.

All races begin and end at the Turkey Springs/Monument Park junction. The Mini-Duathlon course includes a half-mile run and one-mile bike ride on Turkey Springs Road. The Half and Full Duathlon courses include grassy fields, single track mountain trails, and for the full du’ers, the dreaded rocky Piedra Stock Driveway. Everything duathloners love!

Athletes racing in the Half Duathlon begin with a three-mile run, finishing fast after a seven-mile bike ride. Full Duathloners will run the same three-mile loop twice, ending with a 12-mile bike ride.

Though early registration has ended, you can still register online at www.active.com, or download the form from the website at www.acvap.org. On-site registration will be available the morning of the race.

You can participate individually or as part of a two-member team. If you need help finding a teammate, we can match you with someone with similar ability.

The awards ceremony will proceed after all racers are in, with food so you can refuel, and opportunities to win many great door prizes. Spectators are welcome, too.

For course maps, registration forms, and driving directions go to www.acvap.org or call Carmen at 264-9075. See you at the start!
