As part of the annual Pagosa Duathlon, kids can also join in the fun and excitement of competition.
For our young athletes, we offer the Mini-Du, a kids’ fun race, to kick off the Pagosa Duathlon on July 10.
Beginning at 8 a.m., young competitors will first run 1/2 mile, then grab their bikes for a one-mile ride to the finish.
The Mini-Du is recommended for kids ages 5-13, regardless of athletic ability or prior race experience. Older kids are encouraged to race in the Half Duathlon later that morning.
The mini-course is set out on forest service gravel roads and is easily achievable for all young athletes. Every child will receive an official race T-shirt and special prizes.
Organizers of the Mini-Du wish to create a sense of pride in completing a fun race. We wish to encourage our young athletes to enjoy friendly competition and leave with a sense of personal accomplishment. No special awards for top finishers — all race competitors are winners at the Mini-Du!
The event will take place at the junction of Turkey Springs Road and Monument Park Road on July 10. The kids’ race will begin at 8 a.m. with adult Duathlon races beginning at 8:30.
Driving directions, race registration and event details are available on our website at www.acvap.org.
