Stanley Loy Zuege, 89, of Haigler, Neb., died June 21, 2010, at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
Stanley was born July 10, 1920, in Cheyenne County, Kansas to Emil and Alta (League) Zuege. He graduated from Haigler High School. On Jan. 10, 1954, he married Lois Jene Van Horn. Stanley served in the Army Air Corp during WW II.
Stanley was a U.S. Mail carrier for 28 years. He was a substitute carrier until 86 years of age. He was an avid baseball player, bowler and fisherman.
Stanley is survived by his wife Lois of Haigler; son Stan “Shorty” Zuege of Pagosa Springs; daughter Lora Jene Zuege and husband Michael of Antioch, Tenn.; grandchildren, Rikki Jene Zuege and Joshua Zuege Antioch, Tenn.; Jeremy Zuege of Firestone, Colo.; sisters, Hazel Chambers and Dorothy Walker, both of Brighton, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; little sister, Helen Phifer; and brothers-in-law Jack Chambers and Bill Walker.
An inurnment service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Haigler Cemetery in Haigler, Neb.
