Let the art times roll at Hands-On Arts Camp

Hey there kids, we’re rollin’ up our sleeves for the last week of arts camp.

The Hands-On Arts Summer Camp is for students entering first grade next year, up to kids in sixth grade. There is still room and time to register children in the camp. Register in the morning; any day of the camp.

This next week, in the Lisa’s Passport to Art class, we will be doing Asian-themed art such as Chinese dragons, carp kites and landscape triptych painting.

In the Garden Art class, clay wind chimes, desert landscapes and sun print collage.

In the Tessie Knows It by Art class, students will make paper by using paper scrapes to create plantable seed paper and paper casting. We will also be clayin’ around to make hand sculptures entitled “Hands, Heart and Mine.”

Kids will continue with cooperative learning of music; with Harvey’s guidance, children will learn and teach each other different aspects of music theory.

On Saturday, June 26, students will present their art work in a gallery setting with their families at Estudio y Galeria located at 1501-1 U.S. 160 west. Also, a special performance by Charles Martinez, Native American flute player, will entertain at the gallery; all starting at 2 p.m.

On Thursday, July 1, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., a new art show with another special performance by Alex Tarbet and Zach Brown will be at Estudio y Galeria..

Sessions will be held Monday through Thursday, July 1, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Pagosa Springs Elementary School Art Room. Tuition is $120 per week. This fee includes instruction and materials. Daily drop-off rate is $35. Class limit is 20 students per week.
