The Durango Arts Center opens “Always ... Patsy Cline,” the hit musical about America’s top female country singer, Patsy Cline.
Traci Lyn Thomas stars as the legendary soloist who topped the charts with “Crazy” and “I Fall to Pieces” in 1962 and died a year later in a plane crash. Thomas, a veteran of over 25 professional productions, starred in the national tour of “Les Miserables.” Thomas’ talent and Cline’s music promise to steal, melt or break your heart.
Mary Ellen Cerroni plays Louise Seger, Cline’s fan to whom she wrote many letters, all signed, “Always, Patsy Cline.”
More than a musical revue, the show — funny and poignant — reveals details of Patsy Cline’s life via the relationship with Louise. Hearing Patsy’s story, you understand the heartrending emotion in the fabulous contralto voice.
Performances continue weekends thorough September. Check the schedule at WWW.DurangoArts.org or call the DAC, 259-2606. Tickets, $20/$18, are available online, by phone or at the DAC, 802 E. 2nd Ave. in Durango.
