The Pagosa Springs Community Choir will present the 2010 Spring Concert on Friday, June 4, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, June 6, at 4 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The program will be under the direction of Dan Burch and accompanied by Venita Burch.
As always, the concert will present a wide variety of styles of music.
Some notable selections are the exciting opener, “Come to the Music,” by Joseph Martin; “Things that Never Die,” by Greg Gilpin, words by Charles Dickens; and “Kyrie Eleison,” by Greg Gilpin.
The choir will become a “vocal orchestra” for one selection, Rossini’s “William Tell Overture,” arranged by Julie Eschliman, and the beautiful “The Blessing,” by Brendan Graham and David Downes, and made popular by Celtic Woman will be one of our special offerings.
The choir likes to do a patriotic selection for our spring concert, and this year it will be Mark Hayes’’ “An American Trilogy,” featuring old favorites” My Country ‘tis of Thee,” America, the Beautiful” and “This is My Country.”
The concert will feature several soloists from the choir, including Nancy Smith, Perry Schjolin, Becky Walker, Sue Diffee, Larry Baisdon, Rachel Hellwege,and D’Ann Artis.
As always, there is no charge for the concert, but donations will be accepted, to help defray music costs.
