Three Pirates receive post-season baseball honors

With all the Intermountain League baseball teams out of the playoffs, the all-conference team has been announced and includes three from Pagosa Springs High School.

Senior Paul Hoffman and freshman Koby Close were voted to first-team honors for their performances this spring. Sophomore Austin DeVooght garnered an honorable mention in the voting.

On the season, Hoffman hit .444 with two home runs, while Close ended the season with a .450 average. DeVooght hit .310 on the season, also with two home runs.

In addition to their all-conference honors, Hoffman and Close have been selected to take part in a college showcase game in Denver, when players from the IML take on players from the Frontier League.

The game will take place Saturday, June 5 and will be a nine inning game with free substitutions, thus allowing the players more playing time.
