John Paul Martinez, of Henderson, Nev., age 36, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away May 10, 2010. John Paul, a lifelong resident of Henderson, was born Oct. 4, 1973, to Moises and Clara Martinez in Henderson. John graduated from Basic High School where he was a state champion wrestler. In his early years, John was an amazingly friendly and entertaining bartender who developed lifelong relationships with his many customers. He never met a stranger, had a keen sense of humor, always greeted people with a warm and friendly smile, and was always the life of the party.
John was happiest when fishing with his dad and sons in Pagosa Springs, and when spending time with his cousins. Gone too soon, he nonetheless had a tremendous impact on family and friends whose lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed. John Paul is survived by his loving wife, Melanie Martinez, and sons Quentin and Zain; parents Moises and Clara Martinez of Pagosa Springs; brothers Ronny Martinez of Henderson and Dennis Martinez of Pagosa Springs; sister Sabrina Mercadante and her husband, Craig; and sister Felicia Vincent and her husband Joe, both from Henderson; mother-in-law Anita Mackin of Sharon, Penn.; father-in-law, Walter Mackin of Eloy, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Michelle Ciuppa of Aurora, Ohio, and brother-in-law Ian Mackin also of Sharon, Penn. John Paul will also be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews Noelle and Brianna Mercadante, and Dante, Isabella and Carmella Vincent. A Rosary and memorial service will take place at 5:30 p.m., Friday, May 14, at Palm Mortuary Chapel, 800 South Boulder Highway, in Henderson. Funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday, May 15, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 204 South Boulder Highway, in Hender
