The Archuleta County Planning Department is hosting a series of meetings, “Road Show 2010,” throughout the county this year.
In January, the Department kicked off the year with the first meeting in Arboles. Subsequent meetings were held in Aspen Springs in February, Chromo in March and last month’s meeting was in Pagosa Lakes.
This month’s meeting will cover the U.S. 84 area and will be held Thursday, May 27, at the Extension Building located at 344 U.S. 84. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
Meetings are conducted in a town hall format in which citizens are asked to participate in an interactive discussion of what matters in their community when it comes to land use, planning, growth and development. Meetings are informal and although no official action is taken, comments will be memorialized in writing and reported back to the planning commission and Board of County Commissioners. Each meeting is tailored to the community in which it is held.
The purpose of the meetings is to gain input and feedback on issues of concern in each individual community which will begin to form the basis for long-range area plans and amendments to the land use regulations.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting. The following and final Road Show meeting will be held at the county courthouse in June, with more details to come.
