St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church invites the Pagosa Springs community to join the anniversary celebration of a local ministry that has become an important part of our neighborhood.
Five years ago, a small group of talented women from St. Patrick’s began working each week to create Prayer Quilts in response to requests from members of our church. They have since given hundreds of quilts for those experiencing health issues or other difficulties in their lives.
The quilts are blessed during the Sunday morning service and after the service the congregation tie knots that hold the quilts together, while offering a special prayer for the quilt recipient. Quilts have been sent to recipients as far away as Australia.
On May 2, Bishop Rob O’Neil, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado, will join the congregation as the Prayer Quilt Ministry commemorates the fifth anniversary of this important ministry of outreach. Many local residents have received the beautifully constructed quilts and are invited to join the celebration. The Quilting Ministry asks that local quilt recipients bring their prayer quilts with them to church. A reception will be held in the Parish Hall following the service.
