On Tuesday, May 4, voters will have the chance to elect two new board members for the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District.
According to PAWSD District Manager Carrie Weiss, registered voters who rent or own property within the district are eligible to vote, as are property owners (with property in the district) who are registered to vote in Colorado.
While the deadline for requests for mail-in ballots has already passed, voters have until tomorrow to pick up mail-in ballots at the PAWSD office, located at 100 Lyn Ave. Mail-in ballots must be sent to that location.
Voters wishing to go to the polls can vote at the Upper San Juan Health District’s Emergency Medical Services building at189 North Pagosa Boulevard (located next to Fire Station Number One). Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Candidates for the two open seats on the PAWSD board are — listed in order of filing — Sue Walan, Ron Decker, Roy Vega, Allan Bunch and Ray Finney.
The two winners will fill seats vacated by current board president Karen Wessels, and board vice president Harold Slavinski. Wessels and Slavinski are leaving the board as the result of term limitations.
