Tonight, April 29, voters can hear each of the five candidates running for the Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District Board of Directors as they state their qualifications and positions on issues facing the district.
The League of Women Voters will host a candidate’s forum at 6 p.m. at the Extension Building. The community has become accustomed to a balanced presentation from this non-partisan organization, encouraging voters to reach their own decision on the issues.
The forum will include the five candidates running for the PAWSD Board: Allen Bunch, Ron Decker, Ray Finney, Roy Vega and Sue Walen. Each of these candidates was interviewed by The SUN; Ron Decker and Ray Finney in the April 15 paper, and Ray Vega, Allan Bunch and Sue Walen in the April 1 edition.
The League of Women Voters forum will begin with introductions. Each candidate will be provided a set list of questions and the answers to those questions will be presented at the forum. Following this, the floor will be open to questions direct from the audience in a town hall-style meeting.
Colorado League of Women Voters is 1,500 members strong and growing. Within the 50 states and the Virgin Islands, there are a total of 80,000 members. In 1920, the organization was founded to promote political responsibility through an informed and politically active citizenry. The League maintains a non-partisan position regarding candidates or parties. It does, however, take a position on issues based on in-depth study. Voters have developed a trust in League analyses and often seek these materials out prior to elections.
Interested in joining? Local League membership is $15 and all citizens are encouraged to join and get involved.
