The Pagosa Lakes Porpoises Swim Team is open to all the youngsters in our community. We are a summer-club competitive swim team, offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities.
Athletes must be able to swim 25 yards. A pretest of swimming ability may be administered at the start of the season.
Practices are held every Monday through Friday from 4-5:30 p.m. for the duration of the school year. The summer practice schedule will begin Tuesday, June 1. Summer practices will be held Monday through Thursday from 7:30-9:30 a.m.
While competition is a large component of this club’s program, each swimmer’s individual goals are recognized. Competition is encouraged, but it is not a requirement. During the summer months, the team travels to swim meets along the Western Slope, as well as in northern New Mexico. Swim meets provide numerous opportunities for swimmers — from improvement of skills to sportsmanship and team building. Please plan on representing the club at swim meets!
Swim team dues are $40 a month for the first swimmer and $30 for any additional swimmer in the family. Checks should be made out to the Pagosa Lakes Porpoises (PLP) Swim Team and dropped off at the pool at the Pagosa lakes Recreation Center the first Monday of every month. There is also a pool fee if you are not a member of the recreation center ($100 for the entire season).
The club is a member of Colorado Swimming, Inc. and each athlete must register. You can access the registration form at www.csi.org/csiformsmember.aspx.
