On Sunday, April 18, The Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will hold the service originally scheduled for March 7, but cancelled due to a severe snow storm.
John Vick will give a presentation entitled “The Hidden Ways of People.”
Vick H points out that “Until we can see the value in our differences, we can never truly bestow dignity on others.” He will challenge us to look at those “blind spots” in ourselves which keep us from being able to embrace those radically different from ourselves.
Vick is fatherhood and poverty advocate for the Department of Human Services in Pagosa Springs, a certified Bridges Out of Poverty trainer, and a veteran of over 20 years in the Navy.
The children’s and young people’s exploration program will consider how paying attention to the natural world is one way of centering ourselves with the goal of taking care of the planet. Beatrix Potter, the famous Unitarian children’s author, understood the power of paying attention, which we will discover through her stories and drawings.
Services begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbriar Drive off of North Pagosa Boulevard by the fire station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome.
