FAMA (Fine Arts Magnet Academy) is proud to present Joe Craven in concert on Wednesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the Pagosa Springs High School auditorium.
Virtuoso, master artist, creative, inventive, charismatic, engaging, genius, inspiring ... these are the words used to describe Joe Craven.
He will be working with elementary students Wednesday morning, then with Pagosa high school students and with the FAMA students on Wednesday afternoon. Some of these students will then be involved in his Wednesday evening performance.
Joe Craven is not just an entertaining musician with a penchant for the mischievous, he is a teacher and student all at once and he will draw you into his performance by including you as though you’re part of the show itself. The ensuing event will be an arts explosion not to be missed!
Joe is a professional musician and artist from Dixon, Calif., who plays music festivals and concerts throughout the country. He also works with students and educators on issues of creativity in education and the power of the arts in our schools! An advocate of the folk arts, Joe’s educational mission is to empower individuals to take possession of what they already have and tell their stories by “demystifying” art through self-expression as a daily ritual.
“Joe reinvents himself on almost a daily basis. You never know which direction Joe is going to go. He’s always innovative and truly wonderful. He connects with the crowd like no one else,” said Dan DeWayne, director, Chico Performances, California State University-Chico.
This concert is funded by a StART Grant from the Colorado Council on the Arts for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years. This year, FAMA is focusing on creating the new Americana Project Class by bringing in inspiring musicians, filmmakers, and multi-disciplinary artists.
Join us on Wednesday, April 21, at 7 p.m. for this show. Tickets are $10 at the door. Call 264-2231 or e-mail email@example.com for more information. Also, check out www.joecraven.com for details on the featured artist.
