Humane Society Chocolate Auction — ‘An Evening in Italy’

The Humane Society’s annual Chocolate Auction will be held Wednesday, April 28, at the Humane Society Thrift Store.

This year the theme will be “An Evening in Italy” — a potentially romantic evening filled with rich, decadent chocolate for your bidding pleasure.

This popular adult event will begin at 5 p.m. with drinks and socializing, followed by a delicious Italian buffet served from 5:30 to 6:30. The Chocolate Auction will begin at 6:30.

The Humane Society is known for its dedication to serving an excellent meal at the Chocolate Auction, and a taste of Italy will be no exception. This year the event will be held at the Pagosa Youth Center which will be accessible though the Thrift Store Decor will be “Italian Style,” and absolutely incredible chocolate desserts donated by local caterers, bakers, candy stores, chefs and restaurants will be auctioned off to raise funds to help offset the daily operating costs of the Humane Society shelter. The shelter houses and finds homes for the homeless, lost, and abandoned dogs and cats of Archuleta County which is truly a benefit for all county residents. The Chocolate Auction is a wonderful way to have a fun-filled evening and give support to the animals through successful bidding on delicious chocolate desserts.

The Chocolate Auction is the Chamber of Commerce’s April SunDowner and is for Chamber members and invited guests. (To be added to the guest list, please contact the Humane Society Administration Office at 264-5549.) It is requested that only adults attend, as alcoholic beverages will be served. As always, the Chamber will collect a $5 entrance fee to offset their costs for beverages during the evening, and the Humane Society will provide the dinner buffet.

The Humane Society really needs your support, as it does not receive any funding from the Humane Society of the United States, American Humane, the ASPCA, or from United Way. The animal shelter relies on revenue from private donations, the Thrift Store, and through fund-raisers such as the Chocolate Auction.

For more information on the event, please contact the Humane Society at 264-5549 or the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce at 264-2360.
