Leonora Lucy Carrannante, age 78, passed away March 14, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Lee was born in Bronx, New York, Sept. 19, 1931. Lee loved to travel, cherished her marriage to Carlo, and loved being with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Lee was active with her church, gave of herself by caring for foster children, volunteering with Boy Scouts of America, volunteering with her local School District of Yorktown Heights, and exceeded her career goals by working as Administrative Assistant to the President of International Operations of Reader’s Digest.
Lee raised her family in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1981. Lee and Carlo moved to Pagosa Springs, Colo., in 1986 to be closer to their sons, built a new home and life during their retirement years, while making many friends along the way.
Lee was very active in church and community, was an advocate for people with disabilities, and continued to travel with Carlo throughout the 1990s until the progression of M.S. kept them closer to home, all while navigating the challenges of the disease.
Lee is survived by her sons, Frank (Jan), and Joseph (Julien); and grandsons Joseph and Michael. Her sisters and brother Marie, Ann Marie and Frank, also survive Lee.
Married for 57 years, Carlo passed away Dec. 23, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Saturday, April 10, at 10 a.m. Luncheon will follow.
