The ManKind Project will host a free workshop entitled “A Circle of Men — Journey of the Heart” Saturday, April 17, at the Durango Recreation Center, Windom Room from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This workshop is an introduction to the New Warrior Training Adventure, NWTA. The NWTA encourages self examination and is an initiation into a different kind of manhood. Graduates of the NWTA, New Warriors, emphasize living lives that are authentic (truthful) and congruent (what I think, say and do are in alignment).
Men have been warriors since the beginning of time and every man has his warrior side. But social forces pressure many to repress this part of themselves. They unconsciously substitute a distorted shadow for the healthy warrior energy so essential to sustaining individual and communal balance.
The New Warrior is a man who has confronted this destructive “shadow” form and has achieved hard-won ownership of the highly focused, aggressive energy that empowers and shapes the inner masculine self. Sustained by this new energy, the New Warrior is at once tough and loving, wild and gentle, fierce and tolerant. He lives passionately and compassionately, because he has learned to live his life’s mission with integrity, and without apology.
This training is not for every man. If you are ready to risk a deeper look into how you live your life and are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with men risking their “Hero’s Journey,”the journey of transformation, this training may be what you’ve been looking for.
If you are interested in experiencing deep personal growth within a contemporary men’s group join us at this workshop and at the weekly Men’s Circle which meets Wednesday evenings in Pagosa.
The ManKind Project is an international non-profit, secular, international men’s organization whose mission is to empower men to live lives of integrity, accountability, connection to their feelings and to be of service to the community at large. There are over 100 New Warriors in southwest Colorado and over 40,000 New Warriors around the world. Our statement of purpose: “We are an order of men called to reclaim the sacred masculine for our time through initiation, training, and action in the world.”
