On Friday, Feb. 26, art gallery owner Madeline Lyon is hosting a not-for-profit fund-raising event at Wild Spirit Gallery for the newly-formed Pagosa Animal Advocates group.
Live music will be provided by regional band Bluegrass Cadillac, whose members include Melinda Lutz, Keith Abbey, Clay Campbell and Randall Davis. The music will begin at 7 p.m. and will continue through 9, with gallery doors opening at 6 p.m. for interested supporters.
Music and animal lovers alike are invited to attend and enjoy an evening of goodwill for the animals. Beer, wine and food will be provided and a small donation will be taken at the door. Wild Spirit Gallery is located in downtown Pagosa Springs, on San Juan Street, across from the county courthouse.
The music fund-raiser will benefit Pagosa Animal Advocates, a new nonprofit, all-volunteer organization working to improve the lives of companion animals in the Pagosa Springs area. The advocacy group’s mission is to develop unique and innovative programs for keeping people and their pets together; developing a foster home network to provide temporary sanctuary for displaced pets until a permanent home can be found for them; providing humane education and outreach; and assisting animals in need whose plight is currently not being addressed, such as perpetually chained and penned dogs.
Pagosa Animal Advocates encourages everyone who cares about animals and is interested in their mission to visit their Web site at www.pagosaanimaladvocates.org or call (970) 903-2500.
