Archuleta County Clerk June Madrid has announced her intent to run for a sixth term.
“I love my job. I like the challenges it provides,” Madrid said of her decision to run, adding, “I love Archuleta County. My husband was born and raised here; my kids were born and raised here.”
Madrid said that no large plans are in the works for a sixth term, but that a goal is to work towards digitizing old records that are currently on microfiche.
“No huge plans — try to keep my staff happy and here, and try to make the county a better place,” she said.
Madrid was appointed to the position in 1989, and was elected to office for the first time in 1990. Prior to her appointment, she worked in accounting for five years and at a local insurance agency.
