‘Masquerade’ a fun celebration for adults

Purchase your tickets for the St. Valentines Day “Masquerade” at Happy Trails and the Ross Aragon Community Center.

This is a fund-raising dance for the Southwest Archuleta County American Red Cross and the center, Feb. 12, 6:30-11 p.m.

Neil Nelson and Steel Rodeo will be our evening entertainment.

Tickets are $15. This is a 21 and over celebration.

Groups and programs

Free computer classes. Classes will begin Feb. 11, 10 a.m.-noon. If you would like to sign up for the class, call the center at 264-4152. Becky Herman will be the instructor.

Israeli dance class. Join Kim Hartfiel 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays. Wear loose fitting clothing and comfortable shoes. No experience necessary. Ages 13 and up recommended. Bring water to drink. Contact Kim at 946-7285 or e-mail dancecrazy@centurytel.net.

Play group. The Play Group hours are 10:30 a.m.-noon every Thursday. During preschoolers’ play time at the center kids can use the gym to play and run around in a safe, indoor environment. Some balls and toys are provided but feel free to bring bikes (with clean tires) and other “active” toys. The program is sponsored by the center and is free to families; however, an adult must stay with their children, no drop-offs please. Kids should also bring a clean pair of shoes to keep the floor from getting wet and muddy from boots. If you have questions, call Gwen Taylor at 731-0305.

Scrapbook Club. The club will meet, Feb. 13, March 13, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 4. If you have any questions, call 264-4152.

Aikido class. Classes began Wednesday, Jan. 27. This is a four-week beginners program for adults and seniors. You need to sign up for the class. Call 264-4152 or go to the center’s front desk.

Aikido is a traditional, non-competitive Japanese martial art. Students learn basic body movements and techniques to neutralize various attacks. Aikido does not use physical strength, and is enjoyed by people of all ages and physical abilities. Look for youth classes in the near future.

Cancer Support Group. If you are interested in the group, call Howard Gross, 264-5100.

Hoopsters. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-9 a.m. Call Larry at 731-3984 or 264-1024, for more information.

Morning yoga. Tuesdays, 10-11:30 a.m.

Duplicate Bridge. Regularly scheduled games are Tuesdays, 5:30-10 p.m, Fridays, 12:30-4 p.m. Please call Stan at 731-2217 or e-mail him at sunset1310@aol.com to check if games are going to be held..

Pagosa Bridge. Mondays and Fridays, 12:30-4 p.m. For more information, contact the community center, 264-4152

Indoor Tennis. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 8: to 11 a.m. Local tennis players can now play indoors through March. Court time is free and limited to one hour increments (8-9 a.m., 9-10 a.m., or 10-11 a.m.). Court reservations are on a first-come basis and may be made 48 hours in advance by calling Dale Schwicker at 903-3119

Volleyball for Fun. Mondays and Thursdays, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Open to all junior high and high school volleyball players. Contact August at 264-6216

The Ross Aragon Community Center has the space your are looking for. We have reasonably-priced rooms to meet your event needs. Our rates range from $6 to $72 per hour. Room sizes for 20, 40, 50, 90 or 500 people.

Community center public hours are Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m-3 p.m.
