We have some disappointing news to bring you regarding the AARP Tax-Aide Program in Pagosa Springs.
The program is being cancelled due to the limited number of volunteers who stepped forward. There must be enough volunteers to maintain the high standards the program requires to conduct screening and interviews of taxpayers, preparing accurate returns and doing quality reviews of the returns. This year, those standards could not have been maintained.
We know there are many out there who have used this free service since its conception. We would like to thank all the volunteers for giving their time to help fellow Pagosans through a sometimes stressful period.
Come outand support our fund-raiser — our St. Valentine’s Day Masquerade, 6:30-11 p.m. on Feb. 12.
Masquerade melodies will be in the capable hands of Neil Nelson and Steel Rodeo. This fund-raising event is for the Archuleta County American Red Cross and the Ross Aragon Community Center. Tickets are $15 in advance and at the door. There will be a cash bar and sweet temptations.
This is a 21-and-oldervcelebration; mask are optional.
