Don’t miss out on signing up for SHY RABBIT’s popular introductory ceramic and printmaking without a press workshops currently offered January through March.

There are only a few spaces remaining in each of the following classes and they are filling quickly, so don’t delay.

Workshops of all levels are offered year round for those interested in continuing on to intermediate and advanced classes, and range from two-day (weekend) to five-week courses.

Classes are held in a relaxed art-friendly environment, making learning enjoyable and rewarding.

Online registration is currently available for all workshops.

WORK-shops @ SHY RABBIT are held in one of two comfortable and spacious 1,000 square-foot mixed media studios, and are instructed by professional artist and ceramist D. Michael Coffee.

This two-day introductory workshop focuses on hand forming, texturing, and assembling clay, all without the use of a potter’s wheel or other equipment. Students are introduced to coil, pinch, and slab methods of construction, preparing them for continuing work in ceramics if desired.

Ceramics from the Potter’s Wheel I-(Introductory, two spaces left).

This course runs five consecutive Wednesday evenings, Jan. 27-Feb. 24, 5:30–7:30 p.m. Course fee: $275. Glazing date to be determined.

Open studio time is also included in the course fee.

This five-week introductory course is designed for novice and experienced potters alike. Participants will learn the concepts of wedging, centering, opening, pulling and shaping forms, trimming and finishing, and glazing.

Try a Potter’s Wheel Day@SHY RABBIT was very well attended last Saturday and provided the perfect opportunity for 17 individuals to give the wheel a try prior to committing to a class.

Participants made the following comments after test-driving the potter’s wheel in SHY RABBIT’s relaxed and art-friendly ceramic studio:

“I will definitely be able to take a wheel class now without feeling intimidated!”

“Thank you so much for such a great experience!”

“I never knew that clay could be so much fun!”

“I did it! I actually centered the clay by myself and made a bowl!”

This free event will be repeated in the future for those of you who have ever wondered what it would be like to work on a potter’s wheel or to learn more about working with clay during a basic hand-building session.

Printmaking without a Press I-(Introductory, one space left).

March 13 and 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Course fee: $215.

This two-day introductory workshop utilizes a unique hand-pressed printing process called “Reductive Ink”™, designed and developed by professional artist, D. Michael Coffee.
