Robert William Kear, of Pagosa Springs, passed away on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009. Robert was born in Clayton, N.M., Aug. 18, 1934, and grew up in Clayton and Albuquerque. He moved with his family to many cities in California, settling later in Oklahoma City, Okla., where he married Bonnie Powell in 1953. They later moved to Little Rock, Ark., for many years before he retired to Pagosa Springs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Kear and Mary Ella Crist Kear; his brothers Clyde and Myrl and two infant sisters, Ruby and Beulah; and by two of his sons, Douglas Kear and Danial Kear and infant grandson, Scottie. He is survived by his youngest sister Joyce Fuqua of Okla. City, and his three daughters and son, Anna Kear Charping, of Foley, Ala., Charles Kear of Okla. City, Debra Kear Barrett, of Pagosa Springs, Janet Kear Jenkins of Okla. City, and his granddaughters, Danielle, Amy, Christina, Jessica, Latrisha, Candis and Elizabeth, his grandsons, Zackary, Bobby and Rodney, along with eight great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing all of his life. He honed his skills in construction and drywall, always willing to help others and enjoyed building many projects for family and friends. He donated his time and labor at the Humane Society in Pagosa Springs, while still in good health.
Robert will be laid to rest this summer in Clayton, N.M., next to his brother and parents, as was his wish all of his life. He will be missed by many and loved always with fond memories by his family. We would like to extend our thanks to his many friends that have aided him and made his life full.
